Welcome to Boodley
Welcome to Boodley is what I worked on during my MA degree at UoG! It's a TV series based on my life growing up in Devon. It's a character-led series as I'm a big fan of character design and enjoy making silly stories to go with them. The button below will take you to my Instagram if you'd like to keep updated with the project. My initial pitch bible is linked below too!
The Idea
"The League of Gentlemen meets Bob's Burgers."
A walled town somewhere in England, full of strange and eccentric characters. A new building development is granted permission to build, putting their town wall at risk. The town must come together to try and figure out how to stop the town’s dark secrets from coming out.
Welcome to Boodley is a 2D adult animated television show, with a pinch of dark comedy which would consist of 10 10-minute episodes with the potential of multiple series. The target audience for the show would be adults, between the ages of 18-30.
Boodley is located somewhere on the coast of England. It's a walled town that is separated from the outside world.

Meet some of the townfolk!

Boodley is home to quite a few interesting characters we get to meet throughout the series. Here are a few of them! More are posted on the town's social media pages and in the pitch bible.
Ned is the oldest resident of the town. They're a lot older than they look. They also have godlike powers they used to create the town and those who live here. Though only some people are aware of this.
Mr. Soemone is the local rich man, who is also funding the hotel build. He's rather arrogant and isn't well-liked by the locals of the town.
Gill, also known as the butcher, is the local butcher. He's a descendant of the sea creature. He has a dark secret, but you've gotta be his friend to find out what it is. He's a very friendly guy who sells great meat!
Bazil is the priest in the local church. Though religion in Boodley is a bit different compared to other places... He's constantly questioning his faith due to the fact he and Ned have a strained friendship and can't understand that their god would be that much of an asshole at times.
Elsie is the local fortune teller, she does so with a Romanesco broccoli. She also uses a giant carrot as a walking stick and is accompanied by a little black dog. She's also a vegetable grower and seller. She's usually found in the old town market or at her cottage on the Boodley Moor.
Sea Creature is the second oldest resident of the town. They were created as a protector of the town back when it was the target of many attempts at conquering it. Though in the recent decade, Sea Creature has been bullied for being fat by the townspeople and decided to retire from town protector and is often found wearing a seaweed outfit if he has to be out of the water for long periods of time.

Character designs
I've got some initial designs for a few characters on display here (in case you didn't look through the linked pitch bible). More are in development, but it takes its time! This is my favourite part of any project so I've also included some of my sketches and concepts.

Bazil is the priest for the local church. This turn around is him wearing ceremonial clothing for the town.
